Make Up Step by Step

I'd been thinking of doing this post for a little while, when I saw that Elycia had had the same idea. It looked so cute on her blog that I thought I'd crank myself into gear and sort out my own version.

I should warn you now that this post features a photo of me sans-make up. Look away now if you're of a sensitive nature!
#1: Cleanse, tone and moisturiser. This is me totally make up free. Eek!

#2: I apply my foundation with my hands. I used to use a brush until I accidentally forgot to pack it for a weekend away and discovered that using my hands is much easier. I use Mac Select SPF15 in NW15.
#3: Time to conceal those blemishes. I have a few little post-spot scars on my chin but they're all but gone after this stage. I'm currently using MAC Studio Sculpt concealer, again in NW15. It's not my favourite but I need to use it up so it will do for now.

#4: This is where I start to feel human. I always apply a generous sweep of blusher. I have a few different ones but I'm wearing Benefit Hervana here.
#5: Time to give my eyes some love! Jet black liner has been my trademark since 2005. You'd think I'd be able to apply it perfectly by now! Here I'm wearing Rimmel gel eyeliner and Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara. This is my standard work look. It doesn't take me long- I've got it down to 4 minutes. Super speedy or what?!
#6: For weekends, I really feel like myself when I've applied a swoosh of red lipstick. I use Rimmel 1000 Kisses lip liner to line, shape and fill in my lips (as you can see in the other photos, my natural lip has no shape whatsoever!), then apply any one of my numerous red lipsticks. My favourite is the one I'm wearing in this photo- MAC Lady Bug.

There you have it. My make up routine in 6 easy steps! What's your make up routine?

  2. My make up routine is just eyeliner and mascara... that's it! Maybe a little eyeshadow if i'm feeling outrageous! I started using liquid eyeliner around 2005 too and have never ever stopped! I would be lost without it!

Your skin looks awesome and your lipstick looks lush!x

  5. Such a simple look- I feel like a clown in my make up routine now! I've always put concealer on before my foundation! I've been going wrong all this time.

    1. Haha no, I think everyone does it differently. Sometimes I put it on before and after, if I've got a particularly stubborn blemish!

  6. Yay for applying foundation with fingers! I found when I used a brush I ended up with stray hairs on my face that I had to pick off!

I put concealer on before and after my foundation as I have really patchy skin and it's how I've found to even it all out.

Great post & I think you looked lovely au naturalle!
