I blooming love fancy dress. Like, fo real. So I was pretty impressed with my fellow Osman-lover Kirsty when she posted her ode to fancy dress. I stole her idea (after asking, of course!) and created this- A (rough) chronology of my fancy dress history.

My earliest documented forray into fancy dress is this: My Clockwork Orange outfit from way back in November 2005. I loved bowlers before bowlers were cool! (Tongue-in-cheek hipster comment!)

Dressing up as superheroes with Marie, my costume partner-in-crime, way back in late 2006. Marie was Dr Awesome and I was Professor Vengeance. Yeah, we made those names up. How could you tell?

The club I frequented in 2007 had monthly theme nights. These are gangster and pirate costumes.

Moving into late 2007 and early 2008, we have more pirates- I love pirates!- and a cat with a super-spiked collar. I don't know.

This is where my chronology goes a bit wonky. The left photo is Halloween 2006 (when I was in the firm grip of emo!), whereas the right photo is mid-2008. Awesome bee costume, right?

A little more wonky chronology here. The amazing handmade gnome costume (Laura's idea!) is from early 2010 and the Hogwarts student- taken at WWoHP- is in the summer of 2011.

When Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt I was released, Laura and I decided to dress up for the screening. I was Bellatrix Lestrange and pretty proud of my costume until I saw Laura's frankly amazing Hegwig get-up. We certainly got some strange looks as we visited the bustling city centre to pick up some much-needed tissues!

Standard daywear for a Madrid music festival in June 2011.

Download 2011 was a dress up everyday kind of festival!

More from Download. Man, that was an awesome year!

Zombie beach party in July 2012 and Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents for Halloween 2012.

For Halloween 2012, I actually dressed up every day for a week. Just for myself. As you do.
This isn't even a complete collection of my fancy dress photos. There are an insane amount! Please tell me that me and Kirsty aren't the only lovers of a good costume!
LOVE this, I love dressing up! And your new design looks amazing!

DeleteYou've had some fab outfits, I might steal this idea for a post.......I haven't dressed up for a while but it used to be a regular thing. Is the pumpkin outfit a kids one? If so I was going to buy that but wasn't sure if my big head would fit in it xxx
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah that was a kids' one!
Deleteamazing! best post ever- awesome bee costume! (i now have endless fancy dress ideas!) xx
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you!
DeleteI have very few fancy dress photos because I rarely attend such events, much as I'd like to. The only dress up I can think of is played the wicked witch in the uni panto where I was fully made up green skin and black clothes which was about 5 years ago and I look more like a baby witch :P I do love your Bellatrix and bee costumes
ReplyDeleteYou should throw your own fancy dress party!
DeleteAmaaaaaazing! Fancy dress is actually the best. Maybe Osman will fall for our charms if we arrive in some sort of fancy dress. Because obviously, in my head, we are bound to meet him eventually. And we should do so in fancy dress please!xx
ReplyDeleteHe will love the fancy dress! What's more appetising than two gnomes?
DeleteLOL i love hedwig and the gnome x so creative!
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you!
DeleteI bloody love the emo picture of you! Why weren't emo kids allowed to smile in their pictures!?x
ReplyDeleteBecause we needed people to understand the endless black abyss of our inner anguish!
DeleteI love fancy dress! To be honest I don't really need an occasion and can often be found playing dress up at home if I'm bored or on my own too long - probably not something I should so willingly admit to! would love to do a post like this one day, such a nice show to look back at your fancy dress costumes!
ReplyDeleteJodie x
