A wedding update

I may have mentioned it once or twice, but Rich and I are getting married in Florida this summer. At least, that was the plan. Of course, life doesn't work like that and, with less than 2 months to go until our planned wedding date, we have about £250 left in our savings. I'm pretty sure not even the Super Scrimpers could make a wedding day out of that.

So we've decided on a slight change of plan. The wedding will go ahead as planned, in Florida, with Laura officiating, on 13th August. Everything as usual, except it will be next summer instead.

Luckily for us, we're completely winging the ceremony. In Florida, you can pretty much marry anywhere as it's the person who holds the license, not the venue. As Laura is ordained, she will be able to legally hold a ceremony wherever we like it. The plan is to find a pretty, fairly quiet location in Wizarding World of Harry Potter to hold the ceremony, although we're aware we may get kicked out of the park for that! We're just going to see how it goes and play it by ear.

I'm the polar opposite of a Bridezilla!

  12. Congrarilations in advance! How cool is a Harry Potter-themed wedding? Myk and I were planning a summer wedding too but everything still falls down to how much budget we have. Haha. Wishin you luck! :)

  13. Oh my goodness! My boyfriend would never go for a Harry potter wedding. You are one lucky woman! It's the same here in Australia - the person officiating your wedding holds a license, not the venue, so you can get married wherever you like. Beach weddings are popular here, but I want to have a garden wedding. Jake will never go for getting married in Harry Potter World, so I may as well settle for second best and get married in a floral setting, instead! xx

    1. That's so cool- Much better than the English system where we have to get married in a licensed building.

  14. It will be great! Although my husband and I weren't brave enough to actually get married there, we did honeymoon at the Wizarding World of HP! And look on the bright side -- since the wedding is post poned until next year, you'll most likely be able to do it after the new expansion to the park has opened!
