How to be a Fat B #10

Last week's project was Being Visible and Brave. This week, I finally got to give it a go. I did something that I never thought I would do, least of all because of my size: I went indoors skydiving.
The experience made me very aware of my size. First of all, I was handed the flight suit with the words "Try this one. If it's a bit tight, I'll get you a different one". Awkward.

It didn't fit. Not even a little bit. I couldn't get it over my knees. So I had to go up to the man, ask him for a larger size and then it still didn't really fit. I had to ask my friend to zip it up for me as I couldn't zip it over my stomach on my own! I didn't want to ask for an even larger size, so I made do with the one I had.

Then there was the skydiving itself. It took place in a large, clear tube where not only the people in your flying group could watch, but so could anybody and everybody who wandered into the building.

I was awful at the skydiving. I pretty much just bounced along the bottom and I could feel my cheeks flapping about. I even saw a man watching and laughing. But you know what? I enjoyed it! I went back for my second go and I was better that time.

I am fat and I made myself super duper visible. And I loved it!

  2. This looks amazing. I was watching a documentary about Felix Baumgartner and it made me want to go skydiving(although maybe not from the edge of space).

  3. It looks like such an incredible experience! I think indoor skydiving would suit me much better than jumping out of a plane! I am not good with heights! xx

    1. I don't think I could have been more visible without dressing as a giant chicken!
