How is it this time of year already? Wasn't it only just the last day of the year? One way or another, the last day has rolled around again and I have a blissful summer stretching ahead of me once more. I'm very excited as I get to be a full-time blogger for six weeks. Woohoo!
Although I've been looking forward to the summer, I'm also sad to be saying goodbye to my lovely class. I arranged some little treats for them as a goodbye gift. (Before anyone accuses me of gender stereotyping, I chose presents that the kids would really like. In the past, I have actually given a boy one of the "girls'" bags because I knew he'd prefer it).
For the boys: A foam ball, compass, pirate stickers and chocolate.
For the girls: Chocolate, bracelets, a ring, lipgloss and bubbles.
As you can see, I wrote out a personal thank you card for each child to say why I was grateful for having them in my class this year. I also made silly little certificates for each child to award them for being "the best superhero", "craziest animal", "future wrestler" and so on.
We had a party, and the children brought in loads and loads and loads of food. I teach mainly Pakistani children so there were loads of pakoray and samosas. I am determined to learn to make pakoray over summer.
My friend- and wonderful TA- had a great dance to Beyonce! This photo was actually taken by one of the children- a 9 year old! Not bad, right?I was very, very spoilt! The children (and parents, of course!) were so generous!
One of my boys gave me a card, inside which he had written:
Thank you for being you
Thank you for being the best teacher
Thank you for helping me be the best I can be
Without you I would not be the person I am today
I hope you know what an amazing person you are.
and in case I forgot to say
Thank you
I will miss you so much
I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried in front of the whole class! I'm going to miss these children so, so much!
All the single ladies? "If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it" - looks like this especially with your ring!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what it was haha!
DeleteAwwh, this is so lovely! You're obviously a wonderful teacher to have. xo
ReplyDeleteI like to think so haha!
DeleteI saw the picture of the card on your Instagram and I have to admit even I had a little tear, so sweet!
ReplyDeleteIt's the sweetest thing ever!
DeleteWhat great swag! Surely you must be the best teacher, ever. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha of course! :p
DeleteThis is lovely I teach 16+ and very occasionally you get a card and present (usually off a girl) and it always makes me choke up a bit. Teaching is the best job I love it :)

Haha they did! But at that age, they love everything!
DeleteOh god reading the last part made me well up! So adorable! On my work experience (back when I was in school..) I went in to a school as a teaching assistant. I was there for only a week and cried so much when I left. The kids just leave a big print on you - so I can only imagine how you felt! Bring on summer wooo x
ReplyDeleteAaw, bless you! I still remember the kids on my work experience 10 years ago! It's amazing how they touch your heart!
DeleteAwww this is so lovely! I miss teaching and your post brings it all back. Bet the children loved their presents!
ReplyDeleteAaw, I can't imagine leaving teaching. You must miss it so much!

Aaw bless you!
DeleteThis is so adorable. It's amazing to know you are appreciated for doing a great job and while it's not all in the material awards, that owl cushion is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE OWL CUSHION!!!
DeleteOf course the best part is seeing the children progress and just having the pleasure of spending every day with them for a year. They practically become my children!
aw this is beyond cute! My mum's a teacher so its rather brilliant for me and my sister at this time of year and Christmas when all her kids give her presents, mainly chocolates or biscuits - I kid you not, one year she was given 7 boxes of celebrations, I'm thinking they were on special offer somewhere! :') Xxx
ReplyDeleteHaha nobody gets my chocolate! THEY'RE MINE!!!!
DeleteI still can't get over how amazing that kid is!x
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss him so, so much! And his mum- She was an amazing parent. In another life, we could probably have been good friends.
DeleteYou have such a lovely blog! Looking forward to reading more, new follower alert! :)
