I love anything creative. I've had a billion sketchbooks but I struggle with my quest for perfection. So when I heard about Wreck This Journal, it seemed perfect for me. The whole point is to destroy it. It's the nemesis of perfection. I thought this would be the ultimate way to harness imperfect creativity.
I'm working on it here and there, and I'll post a monthly update to show you what I've been up to. Some of it will be pretty good, a lot will be rubbish but I'll show it all off anyway.
I spraypainted the cover- terribly- and used a fineliner to draw on it.
I wrote Brand New lyrics along the edges- Touch me or don't. Just let me know.
This was meant to be a self-portrait. I made myself look more like Adele than I intended!
Crack the spine. It's not Mordor, as someone thought (I forget who it was)!
Drawing with my left hand. In case you couldn't tell, I created this page during Wimbledon.
Create a non-stop line. I used lyrics from songs of my youth to create this line.
Can you tell what any of the songs are? Bonus emo points if you can!
This is a page in process. I'll finish it off at some point.
I don't drink coffee so I found it hard to pour my coffee. I chose Pepsi instead but it didn't leave much of a mark. I'll try it again.
Do a really ugly drawing- I attempted a werewolf inspired by Every Time I Die. At least it's ugly...I love this book! I can't wait to get more done over the summer.
I LOVE THIS!!
ReplyDeleteBut, they were right...definitely a Middle Earth map, not a spine :P
Haha IT'S NOT MORDOR!
DeleteI think I need to work on my spine-drawing skills!
This is amazing and something you'll look back on and say "wow! I did all that"! I love these!
ReplyDeleteI hope so! I might even do a second one afterwards!
DeleteI love this! I need to find my Wreck This Journal and start working on it again. I can't wait to see how the rest of it turns out.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see yours!
DeleteI TRIED SO HARD TO READ THOSE LYRICS BUT I JUST CAN'T MAKE SENSE OF IT, boo :(

Ok, I've returned to the photo. The lyrics in that photo are mostly made up of Famous Last Words (MCR, obvs) and I Predict A Riot.
DeleteWoow this looks great! Wish I could just let my creativity out like that! Since I stopped Art at school, after GCSE, I can't get as creative, I'm dying to get one of these though and maybe it's help!! x
ReplyDeleteI did art at GCSE and two art subjects at A level. After that, I thought I'd never want to do art again but after a year, I missed it so much that I specialised in art at uni haha. It can't leave me!
DeleteI definitely recommend one of these!
This is so amazing, I really need one of these journals!
ReplyDeletex
Definitely get one! I love mine!
DeleteThat is absolutely brilliant! I love it! What a cool thing to do, I may have to get one myself xx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! They're so much fun. I'm going to take it with me everywhere over summer!
DeleteThat looks amazing! I totally abandoned mine hahaha I probably should continue wrecking it :D
ReplyDeleteDefinitely pick it up again! I'd love to see yours!
DeleteI adore this. I want one.
ReplyDeleteI totally recommend it!
DeleteI love this, you're so creative! I've been wanting one of these for months, may have to pop it on my birthday wishlist :)
ReplyDeleteJess xo
You should, definitely!
DeleteOh I really want to do this! I'm obsessed with everything in my sketchbook being perfect and rip apges and throw them away only to regret it. This looks so nice!
ReplyDeleteHaha this is exactly what I do too! I like that this lets me just go wild!
DeleteThis looks so good! I've heard about Wreck This Journal before but yours looks so cool I think I might have to give it a go! :)
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely give it a go!
Deletewow love this, self portrait is fab. may have to get one,x

ReplyDeleteHaha yes! Brand New lyrics everywhere!
DeleteBeck I LOVE this.
ReplyDeleteYour SOOO creative, jealous.
This is an amzing idea.
Aaw thank you! You should give it a go too!
DeleteLove this so much. I'm so limited to my idea of perfection and organisation. Maybe I should do this as well. ♥ xx
ReplyDeleteThat's my problem too! I hope this will help!
DeleteI have one of these which is literally wreaked but I love your drawings xxx the spine one is my fav - awesome :)
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm glad someone likes the spine!!
DeleteThis is fantastic! I love the werewolf! I've seen this a few times, and have decided against it every time...after seeing yours I may just have to run out and get it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Definitely get one!
DeleteOh I need to get this! Like Mindi I've seen it so many times and hesitated and not bought it. I really am going to some day! x
ReplyDeleteGo for it!
DeleteI've seen these a lot and have often thought about buying one.....
ReplyDeleteI really want one of these but it goes against every fibre of my being to draw in or wreck a book! I'm a true book lover and that's the reason why every time I have got close to buying one, I manage to put it back on the shelf! Yours looks fantastic though!
ReplyDeleteHaha I'm exactly the same with books but think of this as a sketchbook. They're made to be drawn in!
DeleteThat's so beautiful, I've always wanted one, but I suppose, i've always been a bit daunted by them. I'm really creative, or I try to be... but seeing yours makes me really want one. I think I might indulge (: hehe
