Plans for Summer

Oh my goodness. There's only 7 working days left until the summer holidays begin. As excited, and exhausted, as I am (believe me, I need the rest!), I am going to miss my class so much. Why did I become a teacher? I have terrible attachment issues and it's horrible, every July, saying goodbye to these 30 little children that I've come to know so well.

Nevertheless, I'm thinking of the warm, sunny days that are stretching ahead of me. All 42 of them. Oh yes. I'm hoping to do a lot this year, after spending last summer doing nothing but watching This Morning and Pointless.

1) Spend more time with awesome people
This includes, but is not limited to, Marie, Laura, Leona and Myles. I'm also going to be seeing my amazing TA and I am very excited about my next goal...

2) Meet Kirsty!
I want to meet the awesome Kirsty at long last! I just know that we'll be doing stupid things and giggling like annoying kids when we actually get face to face!

3) Visit Highgate Cemetery
Way back in 2005, our A-level art teacher told Marie about Highgate Cemetery- A huge Victorian cemetery. I've wanted to go ever since and I'm determined that this will be the time to do it.

4) See Derren Brown's Infamous Show
I saw Derren Brown back in 2010 and he was awesome. A few weeks ago, one of the kids showed me a magic trick and my TA mentioned that she wants to see Derren Brown. We booked tickets straight away and we're going to make a day of it in London. I can't wait!

5) Get a new piercing
I haven't had a piercing since April last year, so it's high time I get a new one! I'm pretty sure I'm going to settle on my frontal helix but I'm also considering my rook. Maybe I'll get both!

Of course, I'd like to do a lot more than this but these are my priorities. What are you planning to get done this summer?

  2. Currently on week 3 of the Scottish summer holidays ;) I recently read a fiction book about vampires in Highgate Cemetery, it was a pretty trashy but good book.

  5. Your summer plans sound so good! I go back to uni after winter break next week, so I'm going to have to live vicariously through you as you cross these off your to-do list! I may sound like a right weirdo for saying this, but I love cemeteries! So much history to be found there and some really gothic beauty as well! xx

    1. It seems so strange hearing antipodean folks talking about winter! I love cemeteries too. When I was younger, my grandparents used to take us to church and, when they had tea and biscuits in the church hall afterwards, I would spend the hour wandering alone around the graveyard!

    1. It seems so strange to me to live somewhere without ancient places. I bet it's a very interesting place though!

  7. Sounds like you have some fun plans ahead. I always like to write out a list too- even if it's mostly fun things, so I don't just end up watching TV the whole time :)
