Review: John Frieda Frizz Ease Overnight Serum, Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray and 3 Day Straight.

It's no secret that I blooming love Frizz Ease. Between the ages of, say, 14 and 19, I tried everything to tame my hair: Tresemme, Sunsilk, Elvive, Pantene, Toni & Guy, VO5... You name it, I tried it! The only thing that worked was Frizz Ease, so I've been a complete sucker for the brand ever since! I think I've tried every product in the range at some point and, until I got these in a 3 for 2 deal, they were the only ones I hadn't used.

3 Day Straight
Ok, after washing my hair, I applied this product as instructed and attempted to blow dry it straight which is something I've never done before. I don't know if it's because I didn't really know what I was doing, because my hair is naturally super curly or because I was using a 50-year-old hairdryer (seriously!), but it didn't really work at all!

Nevertheless, when dry, I went ahead with the straightening. It was so difficult! The product had made my hair sticky and the straighteners wouldn't glide through the hair as it usually does, meaning it took a lot more time and effort to get my hair straight.

When it was straightened, my hair was a mess! It felt horrible and sticky but it looked like a big, dry, straw-like mess. Disgusting!

I was very disappointed with this. I get better results without using any product. A complete waste of money and I will definitely not be buying again. Such a shame as I love Frizz Ease products so much usually!
 Heat Defeat Protective Styling Spray
Now, I have to admit, I've never used heat protection before. I don't like to wash my hair too often as it gets really dry with frequent washes (don't worry though- I don't leave it like a tramp's!) and that means I don't need to straighten my hair too much. However, now that I am using heat on my hair more often, I thought it was about time I started using some protection.

This was really easy to spray on due to the nozzle, although it was a bit more fiddly around the back. Perhaps it would be easier with a larger trigger, but the nozzle sprayed the solution fairly evenly and broadly. I can't really say whether it's made that much difference. There's no noticeable change but I suppose my hair will be healthier in the long run.
Overnight Repair Formula Creme Serum
Right, as I said at the beginning, I've tried every Frizz Ease product that's currently on the market. So it seemed pretty suspicious when I squirted this into my hand to find that it had exactly the same appearance, smell and consistency as Secret Agent Finishing Creme. I'm pretty certain that it is exactly the same product repackaged. Yes, it felt nice on my hair. Yes, it smoothed frizz and left my hair feeling moisturised. But am I happy paying an extra £1.50 just because it comes in a box and a blue bottle with a pump? No. Not at all.

I feel so let down with these! I absolutely love Frizz Ease and these products were just not what I've come to expect. Sad times!

    1. Frizz Ease are usually so good! It's just 3 Day Straight that's a bit dodgy!

  2. I'm a massive Frizz Ease fan but I have a few products I stick to (I swear by the Dream Curls styling spray) because they work perfectly for me - it's always good to hear a review from a fellow curly headed blogger which shows me I've made the right choice sticking to my guns!xx

  3. I used to use frizz ease all the time but I started to find they had put something different in their products. Something 'sticky'.

I now stick to a curl spray followed by a curl cream. The best curl cream I have tried to date is the Naked range and the curl spray use to be the toni and guy range which they got rid of last year and I have yet to find a good replacement. x

  5. Isn't it funny how certain products work better for different hair. I tried Frizz Ease a few times and had no luck. i pretty much tried all the other ones on your list too and the only one that works for me is Tresseme. too bad these ones were a let down :(

  6. I've been so tempted to try the 3 day straight but I don't think I will after your experience! From my past experience with similar products my hair has been the same so can't imagine it will like this either! Such a shame though! Justine xx

  7. I used the serum for years by frizz-ease. It works, but i found something better last year and have not gone back - its the Shielo Leave in Protector Spray. This Shielo Spray makes my hair do things I thought it could never achieve. I have silky full hair without ever having a flat head. It still keeps it full. It doesn't look greasy, it looks healthy! I have found hairsprays that I've been able to work with, but I still had to do so much manipulating. The Shielo Spray makes me feel like I have a professional hair stylist with me all the time.
