Review // Lush Retread Hair Conditioner

I was told categorically to not buy Retread because it smells horrific. After giving it a good sniff in store, I couldn't work out why at all! It's quite a heavy musky violet fragrance but not an unpleasant one by any means.

PACKAGING

The packaging is as you'd expect from Lush- a robust black pot that you can include in their recycle for a face mask scheme. However, I do think it's too small a pot. This size (245g) will only last me three or four washes. Admittedly, I have very long hair but I do think it should be sold in a variety of sizes.

CONSISTENCY & APPLICATION
Consistency of Lush Retread Conditioner
Retread is designed as a heavy conditioner so it's quite a rich cream, although I found I had to use a lot of product to cover my hair. Once on, it definitely feels moisturising, almost like a hair mask.

RESULTS

My natural hair is super curly and this conditioner worked really well to tame the frizz. It made my curls look smooth and somewhat elegant (proof here). I felt like a Disney Princess and, in fact, felt confident enough to go to London the next day with my hair au naturel, which is a big deal!
Review of Lush Conditioner
All in all, I love Retread but I just wish there was more product in the pot! I'll have to see if they sell a big pot in Oxford Street.

  2. I've never heard of this before, but I've been looking for a frizz fighting conditioner for a while so I must give it a try one day soon! I didn't know Lush had that pot recycling scheme, that's a great idea!

  3. I was really on the fence of buying this- like you I worried the pot was a little too small.Plus I was unsure of the smell and couldn't decide if I liked or hated the violet smell.

  6. This sounds pretty amazing - however the pot does look quite small considering I've got quite thick hair!!
