3rd May 2014 and London Retro giveaway

 Glasses: London Retro c/o MyOptique
Dress: Primark
Cardigan: New Look

Today is such a beautiful day and I am absolutely over the moon. Sunny days make me so happy, especially when I know I have a fun day of shopping, sushi and, erm, castles ahead. (Yeah, the alliteration didn't work out too well for me there!).

When I woke up with sunlight pouring into my bedroom, I knew I'd have to pull out this dress again. I bought it from Primark last spring and it is, without doubt, my favourite "Sunny Day Dress". The bright print just puts me in such a good mood! It's so blooming comfy too, with an elasticated back. They have a few new dresses in this style at the moment, so I might need to stock up on some!

This cardigan is definitely going to become one of my go-to layering pieces. I absolutely love how it looks with this dress. It's so bright and cheerful!
I also think we need to talk about these gorgeous glasses from MyOptique. They are part of the London Retro collection which has the most beautiful frames. In fact, their new collection, Metropolitan, is inspired by the London Underground, with a style reflecting each line. I think that's a pretty cute, quirky idea!

Since I was 17, and got thick-rimmed glasses to match Mikey Way (true story!), I've only ever worn thick-rimmed, vintage-inspired frames, so the whole collection is just perfect for me! After much deliberation, I settled on these gorgeous Babs cateye frames. Cateye frames are my jam, as you can see here, here, here and here, so these were ideal and I adore the extra detail of the gold accent. They're so dramatic and eye-catching! They also come in tortoiseshell which I consider a little more sophisticated. As you all know, I'm far too exciteable and giddy to pass for sophisticated!

Surprisingly, given their size, they're very light. I put this down to the thin arms which, although narrow, seem pretty sturdy to me. They also have gold accents on, so they look great from every angle. The lenses, which are in my prescription and very clear, are anti-reflective and, more importantly for me, scratch-resistant. It's amazing how many 7 year old boys want to try on cateye glasses, so it's vital that my frames can put up with a lot of clumsy, sticky fingers grabbing them off my face! Luckily, these have passed the shaking-my-head-vigorously-to-check-they-stay-on test , so I think it's all good! The things you have to do as a teacher!

Ooh, and I've got good news! MyOptique have very kindly offered one of my readers the chance to win a pair of London Retro glasses or sunglasses for themselves. Woohoo! All you need to do is like the MyOptique Facebook page and post on the wall "Entered Becky Bedbug's Give Away". That's it! If you want to follow me on Twitter or Bloglovin', that's awesome but it's not a necessity.

It's open internationally so anyone can enter. Yay!

They're certainly more dramatic than any of my previous frames, but what do you think? Shall I throw caution to the wind and wear them everywhere, or save them for occasions where more impact is needed?

By the way, if you enjoy reading my blog and would like to see me up for a Cosmopolitan Blog Award, you can nominate me for Best Lifestyle Blog here. I'll send virtual cake to everyone who nominates!
